Potential Fireworks In Division 3 Opener – Week 1

The Shoestrings-Chargrill sponsored Chippenham & District Sunday Football League gets underway this Sunday and although the Wiltshire FA Sunday Cup has taken a whole host of CDSFL teams there are are handful of matches that will get the season under way.

Audley FC vs Misfits FC

This match has all of the hallmarks to be a tasty encounter with a number of last season’s Misfit FC players having jumped ship to join Jordan Tarrant’s Audley FC side for the upcoming campaign in.

On paper it is Audley who look favourites but Misfits may well dig into their reserves to show some of the leaving players what they are missing out on.

Warminster Athletic vs Westbury Celtic

St. Geroge’s playing Field is the venue for this Division 3 opener and Stuart Green will be hopeful that home advantage will give his Warminster Athletic side the edge in this fixture. A team that always plays in good spirit, I am sure Stuart will be hoping that some squad consistency may well bare fruit in this coming season.

One of the new teams this season, Westbury Celtic have assigned local footballing legend Marc Lanfear as chairman of the club and they will be hoping that his experience will provide a platform for the team to make a perfect start to life in the CDSFL.
