Benger Gain Revenge At The Beech
Sutton Benger gained revenge at the first opportunity against their conquerors in last season’s Gooding Accounts Subsidiary Cup semi-final, Beeches FC.
Benger opened the scoring midway through the first half when Alex Bell’s free kick from inside their own half was flicked on by Tom Stratton into the path of Ollie Derrick who combined with Ethan Jones to score his first goal for the club.
Derrick then became provider as he laid the ball off for Bell to grab his first goal of the season.
Mark Young then reduced arrears as the Benger back line went to sleep for the first and really the only moment in the match and they were punished.
Benger soon regained their 2 goal when James Hernandez was body checked in the area giving the referee no option but to point to the spot. The resulting penalty kick was dispatched with aplomb by Tom Stratton and they went in at the break at 3-1 up.
Benger really applied their passing game in the second period and the lead was further extended as Derrick again found himself in the right place at the right time to grab his second and Benger’s fourth.
Stratton was searching for more goals when he was released through on goal only to see his strike from the edge of the area crash back off of the bar but he did grab his second moments later scoring from an Ethans Jones cut back.
The sixth and final goal was scored by James Hernandez who stole in to slot home following another flick on from Stratton giving Benger their first win of the season in emphatic fashion.
