Fox In The Box Outscores Sporting Box
Playing against opponents from Division 1 did not phase Fox & Hounds as they worked hard for each other from the first to the last minute to record a 4-2 victory over Sporting Box. The opening exchanges were fairly even but the break came first to the Foxes in the 7th minute when a well driven corner kick by Myles Woodward was met by Adam Tester on the penalty spot to nod it goalwards. The ball took a deflection off Jake Owen to make it 1-0.
From the resultant kick off, Sporting Box had some good passages of play to keep the Foxes pinned back and they were able to find an equaliser in the 12th minute by overloading the right side of the pitch and Jake Angell firing a ball in behind and score with a well taken goal for 1-1.
The next came 12 minutes later with a solo goal that stood out as the goal of the match. Steve Corbin broke through down the middle and unleashed a 25 yard screamer to the top left corner, which left the keeper clutching at straws.
Some resilient defending all the through the team kept Sporting Box at bay for the next 20 minutes and as it was heading close to half time when a fine save Conner North fell kindly for the Nathan Baldwin player to poke home from close range and 2-2 at the break.
Foxes carrying some injuries from the first half saw Oscar Williamson being withdrawn mid-way though the half and Reece Collyer pulling up with a groin injury but having to carry on due to lack of subs. The second half got underway. It didn’t take long for the Foxes to find the rhythm again, a well lofted pass from Reece Collyer found the chest of Adam Tester who drove past the CB and drove the ball past the keeper.
The Foxes then started to manage the game well, Alan Hitchcock and George North keeping the opposition wingers out and playing well through the Sporting press.
The game was finished off by a great run down the right channel into the box by Myles Woodward who calmly slotted home across the keeper.
