DIVISION TWO ROUND UP – 13th February
Win sets FC Box on title charge
Kingfisher FC 2 FC Box 5
With FC Box playing catch up on the teams above them in the table, James Whitehead’s side who since losing to Steeple Ashton in their opening game of the season had won five league outings on the bounce ahead of their visit to Kingfisher FC and are very much in the promotion race, especially after a 5-2 victory over the Fishermen extended that winning run further and helped close the gap on current leaders Shoestrings-chargrill sponsored Chippenham Sunday League, Division Two leaders Old Road to 4 points.
Adam Mitchell opened the scoring from the penalty spot to give FC Box the lead and Spencer Dymond-Hall doubled their advantage to give them some breathing space at the break.
The early stages of the second period saw Kingfisher take the game to their guests and their efforts were rewarded when Matt Holdaway halved the deficit and it was game on when Josh Mannings restored parity for the hosts.
FC Box ended any hopes of an upset when Liam Ralph rifled home a free-kick to regain the lead for the villagers. Dymond-Hall had the chance to make it 4-2 but fired a penalty over the bar, however he atoned for his miss when he did grab his teams fourth of the morning.
A third penalty of the game saw FC Box wrap up the points, Adam Mitchell who had opened the scoring from the spot completed when he converted from 12 yards, to seal his teams latest victory.
