PREMIER DIVISION ROUND UP – 20th March

Lacock give title challenge a lift

FC Lacock 4 FC Devizes United 2

After suffering a 4-1 loss away at shoestrings-chargrill sponsored Chippenham Sunday League, Premier Division leaders  AFC Melksham last weekend FC Lacockhosted FC Devizes United In the knowledge that anymore dropped points would hand the title to Melksham.

With one eye on their Wiltshire Sunday Cup final next weekend they would have been forgiven had they rested a few of their key players ahead of what will be their biggest game since they entered the league in 2014, but Lacock threw caution to the wind and went for broke and were rewarded with a 4-2 success that saw them come from 2-1 down at the break to claim all 3 points on offer.

Two goals from Kian Fulford saw him cancel out Mark Dolman’s effort to give Devizes a 2-1 half time lead.  After the break Lacock were at their best and further goals from Dolman who scored from the penalty spot, Josh Bright and Aaron Masson who killed the game off saw Lacock over the finishing line.
