PREMIER DIVISION ROUND UP – 27th March

7-up Devizes throw title race wide open

FC Devizes United 7 AFC Melksham 1

After suffering two previous league defeats at the hands of AFC Melksham this season, FC Devizes United made it third time lucky as a 7-1 victory at home to the current shoestrings-chargrill sponsored Chippenham Sunday League, Premier Division leaders has left the door ajar for FC Lacock who if they win all their 3 remaining fixtures will pip Melksham to the title.

Devizes who had struggled in previous weeks in front of goal, had their scoring boots on as they entertained a Melksham side who most people thought would finish the morning as top flight champions, with another victory over their fierce rivals.

Goals from Harrison Sartin and Kian Fulford gave Devizes a 2-0 advantage at the break over what on paper was a depleted but yet decent looking Melksham outfit.

Devizes turned up the heat in the second half and Melksham appeared to have no answer to the rampant hosts who through a Oscar Webster double, a second from Fulford and a James Robinson effort took a 6-0 lead before Jack Woolsgrove grabbed a consolation for Melksham whose misery was completed when Kamran Muhid completed the scoring to seal a first ever win for Devizes over Melksham.
