Steeple Ashton & Lavis FC reach Subsidiary Cup Final
Second division, Steeple Ashton FC who suffered WG Parr Trophy semi-final heartache at the hands of Beeches FC avenged their 6-5 loss with a 1-0 victory to book their place in the final of this terms Gooding Accounts sponsored Subsidiary Cup Final where they will face First division Lavis FC whose 2-0 triumph over Audley FC denied the latter a place in what would have been their second final of the season.

A week after their stunning 6-2 quarter-final triumph over competition favourites Chippenham Icons FC, Andy Anderson’s First division chargers Beeches FC and last year’s beaten finalists hosted Steeple Ashton FC for a place in the final of the Gooding Accounts sponsored Subsidiary Cup.
Having already beaten Steeple Ashton 6-5 in a pulsating semi-final clash in reaching next week’s WG Parr Trophy final, Beeches who were missing a few players semi-final clash were favourites to book a second final appearance this season but it wasn’t too be as Ashton stunned their hosts and pundits alike as a second half Carl Ledbury volley earned Ashton a 1-0 win and their place in the May 8th Final.

With Third division Audley FC already in next week’s WG Parr Trophy Final, Jordan Tarrant’s side were hoping to reach the final of Gooding Accounts sponsored Subsidiary Cup, standing between them and their dream were First division, Lavis FC who themselves lifted the Parr Trophy last season, but have had a poor league campaign finishing in a disappointing 4th place.
Looking to the cup to rescue their season, a 2-0 victory over Audley has given Aaron Latchem’s team the chance to do just that and although Steeple Ashton may have upset the odds in beating Beeches, they will be massive underdogs when they go head-to-head on May 8th at New Road, Bromham.
Although Lavis could have been 4 or 5 up at the break, they only had a Jack Booth effort and Levi Wood penalty to show for their dominance and they had to defend well in the second half as Audley came back into the game, but over the 90 minutes the better team on the day won.
