Division 1 Round Up – Match Week 2 – Sunday 18th September 2022
With much if the action taking place in the Knockout Cup, 2 matches to bring you from the Shoestrings Chargrill Sponsored CBFL Division 1. All matches were preceded with a minutes silence to pay respects to Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Lavis FC 1-2 FC Box
Points Snatched At The Death
A tight affair here in this Division 1 matchup against 2 of the sides who will probably be eyeing promotion and championship goals come the end of the end of the season.
The first half was one of not many clearcut chances and it would remain goalless at the break.
It was Aaron Latchem’s side who took the lead through Jack Sterling and it would seem that it may well was going to be enough to see them take the 3 points.
But that was not to be the case as with 10 minutes to go Dan King popped up with the equaliser and Box were suddenly in the ascendancy.
Although a draw maybe would have been the fair result, with minutes left on the clock, Ben Wickens was on hand to score the winner and hand Box the 3 points.
Old Road FC 1-1 Beeches FC
Green The Hero As Old Road Hang on For Point
Old Road FC will be indebted to their Player/Manager Goalkeeper, Will Green as he saved not 1 but 2 penalties to ensure that his side took a share of thew spoils against Beeches FC.
Old Road took the lead midway through the 1st half through a Louis Hoof strike an it would remain 1-0 at the break.
And although the there was a goal for the prolific Steve Ball to equalise for Beeches, he will have left disappointed as Green saved both of his penalty efforts which ultimately ensure the points were halved.
