Division 2 Round Up – Match Week 4 – Sunday 2nd October

Just the sole Division 2 match to bring this week due to the County Cup action this Sunday.

Forest Renegades FC 0-6 Spires Athletic FC

Spires Hit Ten Man Renegades For Six

Forest Renegades certainly made life difficult for themselves at the start of their home match against Spires Athletic as keeper Ben Amor handled outside the area in the opening minutes, giving referee Steve Higgins no alternative but to furnish a red card leaving Kieran Powell to take over between the sticks against Spires Athletic.

Despite an early Zac Bruce goal shortly after the dismissal, this did not start a Spires goal spree as their forwards wasted numerous chances. Forest kept their heads up and had some early attacks of their own that they were unable to dispatch.

However, as Forest began to tire, and Aiden Jackson converted a Zac Brooks cross to give Spires a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes and this remained the score until the break.

In the second half, again Spires failed to convert numerous chances but Forest were clearly feeling the effect of being a man down and were also guilty of giving away the ball too easily, allowing Spires back onto them.

Forest’s second half resolve was finally broken after 70 minutes when Jack Bolwell finally converted a chance to increase the lead to 3-0. Three more goals ensued in the last twenty minutes as Jack Brain’s long-range shot could only be helped into goal by the keeper.

A scramble resulted in George Campbell converting number five and Jack Bolwell grabbed his second and Spires sixth with a long-range effort giving the visitors a 0-6 victory.
