Division Two Round Up – Match Week 21 – Sunday 12th February
SPIRES SUFFER FIRST LOSS OF THE SEASON
The British Lion FC 1 Spires Athletic FC 0
In an eagerly awaited clash between Division Two’s unbeaten teams The British Lion FC and leaders Spires Athletic FC, the former claimed a 1-0 triumph thanks to a first half strike from Liam Mortimer.
Lion have however only played six league games and will need to maintain their winning ways if the visitors continue to win their games. British Lion’s involvement in cup games may well have an influence on their progress.
Farrington Albion FC 5 Warminster Athletic FC 2
Farrington Albion and Warminster Athletic FC had battled to a 4-4 draw in the reverse fixture last month. Once again the match produced a goal fest with 7 being scored and despite the vWarminster taking a 2-1 half time lead Farrington hit back in the second half to take the points with a 5-2 victory.
Ben Bullus had scored twice for Warminster in the first half with Luke Tucker replying twice, Aaron Whittock and two from substitute Corey Rawlings for the home team.
Kingfisher FC 0 Hourglass FC 2
Despite a battling performance from the hosts Kingfisher FC, a goal in each half from Cullen Wylie ensured that Hourglass FC were able to maintain their own push for promotion with only one defeat in the league to date.
Sutton Benger FC 2 Westbury Celtic FC 7
With both teams having won their previous matches, it was Westbury Celtic who came on top against a Sutton Benger who with many key players missing managed to steady the ship in the second half, but still fell to a 7-2 home loss.
Adam Welch scoring twice for Benger as an Oliver Dew hat trick, two goals from Christopher Steele, one from James Cox and a Benger own goal made up the victors tally.
