LEADERS SPRIES ATHLETIC DROP MORE POINTS IN TITLE RACE

Spires Athletic FC 1 Fox & Hounds (Warminster) FC 1

Spires Athletic remain at the summit of the shoestrings-chargrill sponsored Chippenham & Bath League, Second Division, however from having a healthy advantage over their rivals, they have seen that lead butchered to 2 points.

Spires maintained their slim lead over Fox & Hounds (Warminster) FC at the top of the table as the teams battled out a 1-1 draw.

Both goals came in  the first half with Hayden Campbell scoring for Spires and Braden Humphreys for Fox & Hounds.

The main beneficiary of the draw was third place British Lion who will go top if they win two of their three games in hand.

Kingfisher FC 3 Forest Renegades FC 0

A comfortable win for hosts Kingfisher FC and a fifth successive defeat for visitors Forest Renegades who seem to have lost their way of late.

On a bitterly cold day at Buckley Barracks with the wind whipping across the pitch, Kingfisher took control of the game. It was not however until the 23rd minute that they broke the deadlock. A foul on George Garraway in the penalty area allowed Kingfisher’s top scorer and brother Henry to add to his tally with a well taken penalty to give them a 1-0 lead.

Although Forest began to come back into the game, Kingfisher still looked the more dangerous and in the 38th minute Ed Baldwin scored to give them a 2-0 lead which remained the score at half time.

Neither side looked like scoring at the start of the second period as final passes came to nothing. Both hit the post or crossbar.

Finally in the 78th minute Kingfisher did score with a superb volley from Josh Pullin that gave the keeper no chance. The game ended with the score at 3-0 for Kingfisher.

The British Lion FC 7 Farrington Albion FC 0

Two-nil up at the interval Devizes based British Lion maintained pressure on the top two teams and extended their winning League run to 8 matches with a 7-0 win at their Green Lane home against Bath based Farrington Albion.

A hat trick from the division’s top scorer Jake Waters, two from Robbie Whyte along with goals from Kane Kauppinen and Florentin Boncioaga doing the damage.  

Warminster Athletic FC 5 Sutton Benger FC 4

At the beginning of February, Sutton Benger took maximum points at home to Warminster Athletic with a last minute goal to claim win 4-3.

In the reverse fixture it was the turn of Warminster to claim a thrilling victory as they came from 3-2 down at half time to take the points with a 5-4 win.

Four goals from Warminster’s top scorer Noah Millard pushed him up the division scoring chart with Callum Hottine adding the fifth goal. With Benger’s top scorer Josh Hard missing the game, they led through two Luke Carrington efforts and one from Adam Welch, Luke Todd added a fourth in the second half.

Westbury Celtic FC 2 Hourglass FC 3

Another team still hoping to be in the honours mix at season end are Devizes based Hourglass FC were given a battle by the improving Westbury Celtic team at the latter’s Bratton home.

After leading 2-1 at the half, Hourglass eventually came away with a 3-2 win.

Brad Whitbread, Jamie Hall and Matt Tilley on target for the ‘Glass’ as Chris Steele, and Max Bishop responded for Celtic.
