SPIRES DEFEAT OPENS UP THE PROMOTION RACE
Westbury Celtic FC 2 Spires Athletic FC 1
In one of the day’s surprise results, Westbury Celtic dented Spires Athletic hopes of a top two finish in the division with rivals Hourglass having a comfortable win. Leading 1-0 at half time, Westbury secured a 2-1 home victory to get revenge for their 6-3 defeat at the end of November. Westbury did need to hold on after being reduced to ten men before the end of the game.
Tyler Leon Game who was later sent off and Kieran Boyle scored for Westbury with Daniel Leaney replying for Spires.
An upcoming game with rivals Hourglass in early April is likely to decide who finishes where in the division.
Forest Renegades FC 1 Kingfisher FC 2
Kingfisher FC completed the double over Forest Renegades. Having won comfortably at home at the end of February 3-0 they were given a harder game in this week’s fixture.
Joshua Pullin opened the scoring for Kingfisher in the 16th minute, before Renegades leading scorer Tom A’Court equalised from a Lee Ridout assist in the 28th minute as the teams remained level at 1-1 at half time.
With eleven minutes to play, Joshua Pullin scored his and Kingfisher’s second to secure the victory for the Fishermen.
Hourglass FC 8 Farrington Albion FC 0
A comfortable win for the hosts Hourglass at Nursteed Road who after leading 2-0 at half time went on to win 8-0. This completed a double for the home team against Farrington Albion and also put them in the driving seat for a top two finish in the division.
Four goals from Cullen Wylie and one from Jamie Hall, the team’s joint top scorers along with goals from Caleb Hollow and substitutes Dalton Bridewell and Jack Sheridan accounted for the Hourglass scorers.
Sutton Benger FC v Fox & Hounds (Warminster) FC A/W
Sutton Benger were again unable to raise a team with the match being awarded to Fox & Hounds (Warminster) FC.
