Subsidiary Cup – First Round – Second Leg Reports – 26th March

BIDDESTONE HIT 6 TO TURN TIE AROUND AS WEATHER LEADS TO CUP DISRUPTION

Biddestone Athletic FC 6 (8) Farrington Albion FC 0 (4)

Third Division Biddestone Athletic two goals down from their F.W. Jones & Son Funeral Directors sponsored Subsidiary Cup first leg encounter clearly made home advantage in the second leg pay as they hit six unanswered goals against Second Division Farrington Albion.

By half time they led 2-0 to level the aggregate, before adding a further four to win 6-0 (8-4 on aggregate) in what appears to have been a feisty encounter.

A hat trick from David Payne and goals from Aiden Pritchard, Nathan Thomas and Tom Webb doing the damage for Biddestone as they move into the last eight where they will face Griffin FC.

Royal Oak FC v FC Trinity

With top flight side Royal Oak holding a 2-1 lead over FC Trinity they will have to meet again this coming Sunday for a place in the quarter-finals after a waterlogged pitch at West Lavington deemed the pitch unplayable and led to the match being postponed.

Lansdown FC 3 (4) v Griffin FC 4 (8)

Holding a 4-1 lead from the home first leg two weeks ago Second Division Griffin FC must have been confident against their Premier Division opponents Lansdown before the game.

Lansdown however started nerves jangling at Griffin when they took a 2-0 half time lead, but a strong second half performance saw Griffin through to the last eight by winning 4-3 on the day and 8-4 on aggregate.

Peter Hutchinson, Theo Martin and Frazer Collins scoring for Lansdown with two goals from Matthew Pawley and goals from Louis Bollard and Max Weston being decisive for the visitors who travel to Biddestone Athletic looking for a semi-final spot.

Beeches FC v Lavis FC

Another Subsidiary cup Second Leg tie lost to the weather was the all first division clash between Beeches FC and Lavis FC who take a 4-0 lead into this Sunday’s contest which could also be under threat as anymore rain could deem the hosts pitch at Shaw unplayable for a third successive weekend.

Trowbridge Athletic FC 2 (4) v Corsham Rovers FC 3 (6)

With visitors Corsham Rovers holding a narrow one goal lead from the first leg there was everything to play for in the second leg in what was always going to be a tight game between them Division Three rivals Trowbridge Athletic.

By half time Trowbridge had levelled the aggregate by their 2-1 lead with goals from Joshua Mockeridge and Luke Ransome only to concede two further goals in the second half. Corsham winning both the game 3-2 and taking the aggregate 6-4.

Two goals from Elliot Haffenden and one from Aron Byfield for Corsham to advance them to the next stage where host second division Forest Renegades.

Forest Renegades FC 1 (6) v Warminster Athletic FC 2 (4)

Holding a 5-2 advantage from the first leg over Division Two rivals Warminster Athletic, Forest Renegades must have been quietly confident of progressing to the next stage. However, Warminster made sure that it was a competitive game as they took a 1-0 half time lead before running out 2-1 winners.

Warminster goals coming from Noah Millard and Taylor Talbot. Liam Yates replying for Renegades who progress to the last eight with a 6-4 aggregate score.

The Pewsham FC 1 (2) v Weston Village (Team Nathan) FC 0 (1)

Weston Village’s narrow 2-1 lead from their home tie was always going to be difficult to maintain in their away leg at Division Three rivals Pewsham.

Pewsham having only dropped points in one drawn game at their Goatacre pitch . Pewsham did maintain their home form and after a goalless first half ran out 2-0 winners courtesy of a double from Sam Parmenter saw them progress to the last eight where they face either FC Trinity of Royal Oak FC.

Scoop FC v Two Weir Town FC

Scoop FC and Two Weir Town have yet to play a competition match, hopefully that will change this Sunday and they will get to play their First Round – First Leg tie.
