Subsidiary Cup – First Round – Second Leg Reports – 9th April

FC TRINITY & LAVIS FC REACH QUARTER-FINALS

Royal Oak FC 1 FC Trinity 2 Aggregate (3-3)

Taking a 2-1 lead from their away leg, top flight Royal Oak must have been quietly confident of going forward to the next round. However, it was the visitors FC Trinity who went into an early 2-0 lead with goals from Drew Lovelock and Jared Smith-Core. This remained the score at half time.

Royal Oak fought back in the second half as Liam Moffatt scored to level the aggregate score. At full time the tie remained level on aggregate and penalties became necessary.

Both teams missed one of their first five penalties but Trinity scored the first of their sudden death penalties as Royal Oak failed to win the penalty shoot out 5-4. Trinity now host The Pewsham in the next round.

Beeches FC 1 Lavis FC 5 Aggregate (1-9)

Beeches were forced to play both legs at their opponents Seend Lye pitch. After being 4-0 down from the first leg it was always going to be a mountain for Beeches to climb and so it proved.

Beeches did score first from Benjamin Cooper. Lavis quickly replied as Jack DD Sterling equalised before Artur Dolan put them in front, followed by Simon Parfitt giving Lavis a 3-1 half time lead. Stefan Brinzaru increased the Lavis lead to 4-1, before an unfortunate own goal completed a 5-1 win for Lavis who now move into the next round.
