Division One Round Up – Match Week 29 – Sunday 9th April
GRIFFIN COMPLETE LEAGUE CAMPAIGN WITH A WIN
Old Road FC 1 Griffin FC 4
Bath based Griffin FC who have been one of the draw specialists of Division One with six but only one win, rounded off their league season in style with a fine performance at Old Road’s Beeches pitch to win 4-1.
Griffin outplayed Old Road for the majority of the first half. They opened the scoring after 5 minutes when Matt Pawley outpaced the defence to score. In the 27th minute Max Weston’s shot at keeper Will Green somehow crept under his body to extend Griffin’s lead. In the 35th minute David Walton extended Griffin’s lead to 3-0 which remained the score at half time.
In the second half Old Road came more into the game as both teams seemed to slow down. There was no more scoring until the 80th minute when Louis Harriss pulled a goal back for Old Road to give them some hope. However Griffin quickly restored their three goal advantage as Matt Pawley rounded off a nice move to score his second and Griffin’s fourth.
The game ended with a 4-1 away win for Griffin.
Griffin now have an away tie in the Subsidiary Cup at third division Biddestone Athletic next Sunday to look forward to.
