BATH ROVERS WIN, BUT WHITEWAY CLOSE ON TITLE WIN

Bath Rovers FC  1 Trowbridge Athletic FC 0

A narrow 1-0 victory over much improved Trowbridge Athletic kept Bath Rovers at the top of the division after their final league game. However, closest rivals Whiteway only need two points from their last two games to leapfrog Rovers.

Rovers goal came in the first half thanks to Kaylum Escott to end their season with a win. Trowbridge still have a game to play but must be encouraged by recent performances.


Biddestone Athletic FC 0 Marshfield (Sunday) FC 3

Marshfield finished their league season with a 3-0 away victory at Biddestone Athletic FC to cement fourth place in the division. Biddestone appeared to have no answer to the Marshfield attack. Marshfield’s top scorer Sam Bean got the only goal of the first half.

A Biddestone own goal extended Marshfield’s lead before Joel Hardy completed the scoring to give them a 3-0 victory.


Corsham Rovers FC 3 Whiteway FC 4

Whiteway were made to fight for victory in their away game at much improved Corsham Rovers. Corsham in their last league game of the season in fact held a 2-1 lead at half time with two Elliot Haffenden goals. Whiteway’s top scorer Gary Jones having scored in the 15th minute. Although Elliot Haffenden completed his hat trick in the second half, another goal from Gary Jones followed by goals from Niall Lovelock and finally Cameron New ensured a 4-3 win for the visitors.

With two games to go Whiteway need just two more points to take the title. Corsham now have a semi final in the subsidiary cup next Sunday against division one FC Trinity to look forward to.


The Pewsham FC 1 Weston Village (Team Nathan) FC 2

Weston Village completed their season with a 2-1 away win at Pewsham’s Goatacre pitch. Leading 1-0 at half time they completed their victory with goals from Tyreece Chevolleau and Catalin Cobzaru. Kadir Ayhan replied for Pewsham who seem to have had a slump in form recently but still maintain third spot in the League. Their final game of the season against title challenging Whiteway will not be an easy game.
