SCOOP & FC TRINTY PAY THE PENALTY AS GRIFFIN & CORSHAM ROVERS MAKE CUP FINAL

Griffin FC 1 Scoop FC 1 – Griffin win 5-3 on penalties

In a tense Semi Final of the F. W. Jones & Son Funeral Directors sponsored Subsidiary Cup, Premier Division leaders Scoop were held to a 1-1 draw by Division One underdogs Griffin FC. After a goalless first half Scoop’s Luke Child and Griffin’s Matthew Pawley scoring the second half goals for their respective teams.

In a tense penalty shootout, the Division One team outscored the visitors to achieve an appearance in the Final at Westbury United ‘s ground in two weeks’ time by 5 goals to 3.

Griffin’s successful penalty takers being. Samuel Gimbert, Max Western, Matthew Pawley, Louis Bollard and David Walton. Scoop penalty scorers being Joshua Bright, George Ford and Aaron Witchell. A major surprise for Scoop who probably had eyes on a League and Cup double.

FC Trinity 0 Corsham Rovers FC 0 – Corsham Rovers win 4-3 on penalties

After a goalless 90 minutes, Division Three Corsham Rovers continued their giant killing act with a 4-3 penalty shoot out win over Division One FC Trinity to reach the final of the F. W. Jones & Sons Funeral Directors sponsored Subsidiary Cup.

John Eyley, Tom Lakeman and Jared Smith-Core were on target for Trinity but were outscored in the shootout by Rovers Morgan Ackerman, Aron Byfield, Mahir Islam and Ciaran Taylor.

Corsham Rovers now meet an other Bath based Division One Team, Griffin in the final and will no doubt hope to continue their giant killing in this competition in two weeks at Westbury United’s Meadow Lane ground.
