Subsidiary Cup – First Round & Quarter-Final Reports – Sunday 16th April

Two Weir Town FC 2-4 Scoop FC

Due to the recent bad weather the final First round match of the F.W. Jones & Son Funeral Directors sponsored Subsidiary Cup was reduced to a one leg game , First division Two Weir Town gave Premier division leaders Scoop a hard fight as they went down 4-2.

Played at Two Weir Town’s Odd Down home, the Bath team held Scoop to a 2-1 lead at half time.

Scoop’s leading scorer Ed Summers claimed a hat trick and Charles Street added another,

Ewan White responded for Two Weir Town with substitute Theo Vickers-Armstrong adding another.

Scoop moved into the quarter finals where they met another First division team Lavis FC who they beat in a thriller that would have been a worthy final.

QUARTER-FINALS

Lavis FC 1-3 Scoop FC

Played at Beversbrook, Premier Division leaders Scoop were given a real battle by high flying First Division Lavis FC, Described by supporters of both teams as ‘Hell of a Game’.

Lavis did score first from Oliver Sterling. Scoop pulled one goal back before half time before adding two more in the second half. The goals coming from top scorer Ed Summers, Joshua Bright and substitute Rory Davis,

Scoop now travel to Lansdown for their semi-final with another Division One team Griffin FC.


Biddestone Athletic FC 2-3 Griffin FC

Third Division Biddestone Athletic FC gave their First Division visitors Griffin FC a hard game in this quarter final game at Biddestone. Biddestone led twice in the first half with goals from Tom Webb and Dion Calway. Griffin’s Mason Farrington equalised the first and Dave Walton the second to leave the tie level at half time.

The vital third goal was scored by Steve Connor who put Griffin through to a home semi-final with Premier Division leaders Scoop FC.


FC Trinity 7-1 The Pewsham FC

First Division FC Trinity had a comprehensive 7-1 home win over Division Three Pewsham FC. Leading 2-0 at half time from two Tom Lakeman goals, Trinity added five more without response. Tom Lakeman completed his hat trick for a 3-0 lead, then Kane Hayward made it 4-0, followed by leading scorer Sam Mason, then James Coley and finally a second for Sam Masson to lead 7-0. Luke Hackett pulled a goal back for Pewsham as the game ended 7-1.

Trinity now have a home semi-final against another Division Three team, Corsham Rovers.


Corsham Rovers FC 5-1 Forest Renegades FC

Third Division Corsham Rovers pulled off the surprise of the day when they beat Second Division Forest Renegades at their Leafy Lane pitch.

Leading 2-0 at half time they scored three more unanswered goals to win 5-0. Elliot Haffenden scored four with Sam Young adding another. Forest would also regret a first half penalty miss.

Corsham must now travel to First Division Bath based FC Trinity for their semi final with the hope they can continue their giant killing in the semi-final.
