Lansdown FC 2 Beeches FC 5

BEECHES LIVE UP TO TOP DOGS, BILLING

Relegated Lansdown took an early lead through Richard Evans against Beeches, who finished third in the Division last season. Aaron Masson brought the visitors level before Olly Clarke gave them a 2-1 half time lead.

Lewis McMullen extended the visitors lead in the second half. Lansdown’s Luke Priddle reduced the lead to 3-2.

The division’s top scorer last season Steve Ball the extended the visitors lead to 4-2 before Aaron Masson added his second to give Beeches a good start to their campaign with a 5-2 away win.


Old Road FC 2 Bath Rovers FC 5

CHRIS, SPURS BATH ROAD TO VICTORY

It was a high scoring game at the Beeches as last season’s runners up in Division Three Bath Rovers visited established Division One Old Road.

Old Road took an early lead from Matthew Sallows before Tom Lakeman equalised for Rovers. Sam Whittock scored to give Old Road a 2-1 lead going into half time.

Rhys Merriman then scored for Old Road to give them hope of an opening day victory. Bath Rovers proved last season they are a team to be reckoned with as they came back with four unanswered goals. Stephan Woods reduced the arrears before the League’s top scorer last season Chris Spurrey equalised.

Deklan Davies then gave them the lead before Chris Spurrey got his second as Rovers ran out 5-3 victors to claim an impressive start to their season.


Spires Athletic FC 5 Whiteway FC 1

JONES BAG TREBLE AS WHITEWAY STUN SPIRES

Two promoted teams clashed at Stanley Park as last season’s third team in Division Two Spires Athletic hosted Division Three winners Bath based Whiteway. The visitors clearly shocked the hosts as they raced into a 3-0 half time lead.

Whiteway’s top scorer last season Gary Jones was quickly off the mark with the first two goals . Midfield general Tyrone Mulholland adding a third for the half time lead.

Dylan Hatt pulled a goal back for Spires after the break before Finn Forster gave Whiteway a 4-1 lead.

Gary Jones completed both his hat trick and a 5-1 away win for Whiteway.


The Green Dragon FC 5 Two Weir Town 3

DRAGON FIRED UP FOR NEW SEASON

Relegated Green Dragon (formerly Royal Oak) were given an early shock to life in Division One as Two Weir Town took a 2-0 half time lead. An own goal followed by a Luke Short strike for the visitors put them on top.

Christian O’Donovan and then Sam Chapman brought Dragon back in to the game at 2-2.

Town’s Nick Tanner restored their lead before Sam Chapman equalised again. Max Johnson and then Will Musgrove turned the tables on Town as Dragon recorded a much needed boost to the start of the season with a 5-3 home win.
