Trowbridge Athletic FC 2 AFC Ivy 5

IVY OPEN WITH 5-STAR SHOWING

In a lively game at Notton House School, Trowbridge Athletic, depleted somewhat by injuries were outclassed by Bath based newcomers AFC Ivy.

Against the run of play, a James Pennell free kick gave Trowbridge the lead after 7 minutes. Despite several close attempts it took Ivy until the 32nd minute to equalise when Ben Millett  scored after a goalmouth scramble. In the 39th minute the same player was fouled in the area, his penalty kick however soared over the bar. Three minutes later a dominant Ivy did take the lead when Joshua Doell’s long range shot gave them a 2-1 half time advantage.

Ivy increased their lead when the lively Shane Robbins scored after 54 minutes. Ben Millett then added his second and Ivy’s fourth after 69 minutes.

A defensive slip allowed Joshua Mockeridge to reduce the arrears to 4-2 after78 minutes but Ivy struck back in the 87th minute when Jordan Abebiosu-Smith scored a fine individual goal to give Ivy an impressive 5-2 opening win.

Man of the match for Ivy – Milo Murgatroyd tormented the Trowbridge defence all the game.

The game was well refereed by Anthony Brewerton.
