CORSHAM LOOK TO BE THE TEAM TO BEAT
After their impressive 9-1 away win the previous week Corsham Rovers and the strike pairings of Elliot Haffenden and Owen Thomson are certainly leading the way for top goal scorers this season, After four each last week both were on the scoresheet again this week. Relegated Olympic Victoria playing their first game of the season were shown no mercy at the Leafy Lane home of Corsham.
Rovers raced into a 5-0 half time lead with Owen Thomson opening the scoring. Elliot Haffenden the added a second before they both scored their second respectively. Callum Thornburn the added a goal for the 5-0 half time lead.
Elliot Haffenden added two more after half time to take his tally to four and a 7-0 lead.
Lawrence Room pulled a goal back for Victoria before Owen Thomson completed his hat trick and gave Corsham an 8-1 victory,
Farrington Albion FC 4 Marshfield (Sunday) FC 5
MARSHFIELD WIN 9-GOAL THRILLER AS BEAN NETS HAT TRICK
In a game where eight goals were shared in the first half, a solitary second half strike from Marshfield gave them the points with a 5-4 victory over Farrington Albion after a heavy opening day defeat.
Leading goal scorer last season, Sam Bean had opened the scoring for Marshfield before Harry Ryan added a second for the visitors. William Gould then reduced the arrears for Albion before Collom Mccleary extended Marshfield’s lead. Michael White then scored twice to give Albion the lead before Sam Bean equalised to leave the sides level 4-4 at half time.
A solitary Sam Bean second half goal gave him his hat trick and Marshfield a narrow 5-4 victory.
Griffin FC 2 Kingfisher FC 1
GRIFFIN TAKE OFF AT KINGFISHER
Kingfisher’s unbeaten League run came to an end as they visited Bath based Griffin who had been relegated last season.
Playing their first game of the new season, Griffin took a 1-0 lead into half time thanks to a Steve Connor goal.
They increased their lead when Howard Dennis scored. Kingfisher’s Edward Baldwin reduced Griffin’s lead when he scored.
Kingfisher were however unable to score again as Griffin took their first points of the season.
Semington FC 2 The Pewsham FC 1
GEE & SIMMONDS HAND SEMINGTON VICTORY
Relegated Semington had to battle back at their Little Marsh home to take their first points of the season from Pewsham who were playing their first League game.
After a penalty shoot out loss last week in the Wiltshire Sunday Cup, Pewsham did take a 1-0 lead into half time from a George Stevens goal.
Semington however battled back in the second half as Oliver Gee equalised before substitute Harrison Simmonds gave them the points with a 2-1 win.
Westbury Rovers FC 0 Combe Down FC 4
WESTBURY UNABLE TO DERAIL COMBE DOWN
Newcomers Combe Down scored four goals for the second consecutive week as they have made an impressive unbeaten start, wit ha 4-0 triumph away at Westbury Rovers.
Dyllan Angishan-Law gave them the lead at Westbury’s Bratton ground before Ollie Shepard added a second to give them a 2-0 half time lead.
Dyllan Angishan-Law completed his hat trick in the second half to give the visitors a 4-0 victory.
