DOWNERS’ ON THE UP AFTER WIN NUMBER 4

Combe Down continued their impressive unbeaten start to the season in the Chippenham & Bath League, Second Diviison, maintaining top spot in the division, as they visited Farrington Albion.

Drew Lovelock opened the scoring for the visitors and Dyllan Angishan-Law added a second as they took a 2-0 half time lead.

Corey Rawlings pulled a goal back for Albion from the penalty spot before Dyllan Angishan-Law got his second of the day to give the visitors the points with a 3-1 win.


Forest Renegades FC 0 Corsham Rovers FC 6

SECOND HALF GOAL BLITZ EARNS CORSHAM VICTORY

Corsham Rovers bounced back from their cup defeat the previous week to maintain their unbeaten league record on their visit to Forest Renegades.

Renegades restricted Rovers to a single first half goal scored by Owen Thomson.

However Rovers added five more in the second half as Owen Thomson scored his second followed by goals from Aron Byfield, Jake Abbott, Ciaran Taylor and Thomas Clifford. Rovers running out with a 6-0 away win.


Marshfield (Sunday) FC 3 Griffin FC 6

GRIFFIN FLY OFF WITH ANOTHER 3 POINTS

Griffin stretched their unbeaten league record to three matches with a strong second half performance as they visited Marshfield.

Marshfield’s top scorer Sam Bean had given the home team an early 2-0 lead with his two goals. Matthew Pawley pulled a goal back for Griffin before Sam Bean completed his hat trick to give Marshfield a 3-1 lead. Matthew Pawley the scored again to reduce the home team’s lead to 3-2 at half time.

Griffin took control in the second half as David Walton equalised. Max Western, Storm Brand and David Walton’s second gave the visitors a 6-3 win as they kept their push for honours.


Semington FC 1 Westbury Rovers FC 1

POINTS SHARED AT LITTLE MARSH

Visitors Westbury Rangers got their first point of the season as they met Semington at their Little Marsh pitch.

Semington took a 1-0 lead into half time thanks to an own goal by the visitors.

Rovers however fought back in the second half as Alex Turner equalised to leave the teams with a point apiece following the 1-1 draw.


The Pewsham FC 2 Kingfisher FC 1

PEWSHAM CHALK UP FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

After opening the season with back-to-back victories, Kingfisher have now suffered consecutive defeats after they were beaten 2-1 by the Pewsham FC who turned things around at their heavy loss to Spires Athletic in the Knockout Cup.

After having held a first half lead at Pewsham’s, Goatacre pitch, Steve Browning’s hosts who enjoyed some home comforts last term, turned things around.

Benjamin Haynes had given the visitors a first half 1-0 lead but Sam Parmenter equalised in the second half for Pewsham.

A goal from Maitland Harris secured a 2-1 win for Pewsham and their first league points.
