WOLVES SLAUGHTERED BY IVY
AFC Ivy continued their unbeaten start to the season with a first-round victory in the Somerset Sunday Cup against visitors Bridgwater Wolves.
Ivy led 2-0 at half time with goals from Tylor Mayoh and Henry Shortridge.
Jack Hallett added a third and fourth for Ivy in the second half before Bridgewater Wolves managed to pull a goal back. Two further goals from Henry Shortridge completed his hat trick as Ivy moved to the next round with a 6-1 win.
Lansdown FC 4 Digital Dash FC 1
DIGITAL’s CUP HOPED DASHED BY LANSDOWN
On a wild and windy day at Lansdown, the home team welcomed Digital Dash for a first round Somerset County Cup clash. Lansdown who have yet to win in the League turned in an excellent performance on the day to move on to the next round.
They did however concede the first goal to Digital Dash before Frazer Collins equalised as the teams went into half time level at 1-1.
Second half goals from George Adshead, Ryan Metcalf and Dan Lockhurst (his first for the club) saw them gain a welcome 4-1 home victory.
Manor FC 0 Whiteway FC 3
WHITEWAY END MANOR’S SUNDAY CUP HOPES
In a Somerset County Cup first round clash between two of our league unbeaten Third Division Manor FC hosted Division One Whiteway.
The latter having gone down to their first defeat for some time were clearly looking to return to winning ways.
It was indeed Whiteway who took a 2-0 lead into half time with goals in the 27th minute from Aidan Maslen and Bill Turner on the stroke of half time.
Manor clearly battled hard but Whiteway’s top scorer Gary Jones more or less settled matters in the 70th minute when he gave the visitors a 3-0 lead. Whiteway held on to this lead to move into the next round.
Olympic Victoria FC 13 Hinton St George FC 0
OLYMPIC RUN RINGS ROUND HINTON
Olympic Victoria having only played and lost one league game must have welcomed the challenge of a cup run. They welcomed Hinton St George to their Odd Down home for this Somerset Sunday Cup first round tie.
Olympic Victoria were certainly in the mood as they raced to a 4-0 half time lead before adding another nine in the second half to run out 13-0 winners as the progressed to the next round.
Chris Rogers scored four, Simon Wikeley three, Shaun Lavis two along with single goals from Joe Horn, Ciaran Llewelyn, Tom Woofendon and an own goal.
Puriton FC v Lansdown Reserves FC H/W
LANSDOWN FORFIT SUNDAY CUP MATCH
Lansdown Reserves were unable to raise a team for their trip to Puriton FC, leading to their opponents being handed a walkover in the next round.
