DIVISION ONE ROUND UP – 8th October 2023
Whiteway FC 1 Bath Rovers FC 0
MYRIE MAKES THE HEADLINES WITH WHITEWAY WINNER
With the honours shared last season between the two fierce Bath based rivals Whiteway FC and Bath Rovers FC this season’s first meeting between the two teams was always going to be a nail biter and so it proved as Whiteway edged out their guests at Odd Down Football Club thanks to the narrowest of wins.
Charlie Myrie made the headlines for his team when he put Whiteway in front in the 40th minute from a Gary Jones assist and little did he know at the time, that his goal would also separate the sides after 90 exciting minutes.
Old Road FC 0 Fox & Hounds (Warminster) FC 6
FOX & HOUNDS CLAIM CONVINCING WIN AT SHAW
After suffering a 3-1 loss to Beeches FC in their first game of the season Fox & Hounds (Warminster) have put together a 4 league and cup match winning run, with their latest success coming with a 6-0 win away at Old Road FC who themselves have managed just one win from their opening 3 league outings.
Jake Owen was the star of the show for Fox & Hounds with a first half treble before debutant Jake Wright netted his first of the game to give the hosts a comfortable 4-0 interval lead.
A second from Jake Wright made it 5-0 and a first goal of the season for Liam Dawson put the icing on the cake for the visitors to Shaw who will see the result as the perfect build up to next week’s clash with Spires Athletic, a team they have yet to beat.
Spires Athletic FC 6 Lansdown FC 1
DOMINANT SPIRES HIT 6 AGAINST LANSDOWN
A dominant display from Spires Athletic saw them beat Lansdown FC 6-1, the result may have been expected, however it would be fair to say the loss of two players in the opening 10 minutes due to injury didn’t help Lansdown’s cause.
Spires took the lead through a well worked goal on 7 minutes that saw Frank Mubvuta score his first goal for the club in what was his first start for the club. Hayden Campbell followed up the opener to double his teams lead. Mubvuta quickly followed up Campbell’s effort with his second to give them a 3-0 half time lead.
Shortly into the second half, Lansdown pulled a goal back when Noah McIntyre netted from a rare Lansdown attack before a sublime free kick from Dylan Hatt made it 4-1 and killed off any hope of a comeback.
Zac Baskerville headed in a fifth for Spire before a 30 yard free kick by Sam Wallis finished off the scoring.
The match was immaculately refereed by Sam Gooding which helped make this a very enjoyable game to watch.
