HAFFENDEN IN THE GOALS AGAIN AS CORSHAM

In an entertaining game at Leafy Lane, there was little between the Division Two’s unbeaten table topping teams Corsham Rovers and Combe Down FC

The early stages saw both sides on top for short periods.

Rovers however began to dominate with their fast moving forwards and looked the more dangerous. After 30 minutes Rovers opened the scoring from Elliot Haffenden. This was the only score as Rovers went into half time with a 1-0 lead.

In the second half Combe Down began to tire as Rovers increased the pressure, In the 60th minute an Aron Byfield corner was headed home by Callum Thorburn to give Rovers a 2-0 advantage.

Combe Down were now struggling to hold their opponents and Elliot Haffenden added a third from a breakaway run in the 63rd minute. Combe Down conceded a penalty in the 75th minute. Elliot Haffenden stepped up to score and complete his hat trick. Rovers moving to top spot with a 4-0 win.


Farrington Albion FC 2 The Pewsham FC 0

MEREDITH DOUBLES UP, TO GIVE FARRINGTON FIRST WIN

After almost postponing their home fixture against The Pewsham FC due to a shortage of players, a couple of late signing meant that Farrington Albion, not only raised a team but they conjured up a fine display that led to to a first win of the season.

After a goalless first half, Farrington Albion took their first points of the season with a 2-0 home win.

Their second half goals both coming from Henry Meredith. After four successive league defeats clearly a welcome victory for the Albion.


Griffin FC 7 Olympic Victoria FC 3

GRIFFIN WIN TO KEEP PRESSURE ON THE TOP SIDES

Griffin FC continued to keep pace with the top teams and maintained their unbeaten league run in a high scoring game at Lansdown against fellow Bath based rivals Olympic Victoria.

Matthew Pawley opened the scoring for Griffin as Max Western then scored twice to give the home team a 3-0 lead. Substitute Ravneet Rai then pulled a goal back for Victoria before Steve Connor’s goal gave Griffin a 4-1 half time lead.

Dave Walton extended Griffin’s lead to 5-1 before Ravneet Rai got his second for Victoria. Jonathan Halford and a second goal from Matthew Pawley saw the home team take a 7-2 lead.

Ciaran Llewelyn and Chris Rogers scored for Victoria to leave the final score at 7-4 for Griffin.
