GRIFFIN DOWN ROVERS TO INFLICT FIRST LOSS OF THE SEASON
Corsham Rovers who had won their Subsidiary Cup final clash last season against Griffin FC hosted their rivals looking to maintain their 100% winning start to the season, however things didn’t go to plan as they found themselves 2-0 down to their Bath based rivals as Matthew Pawley and Steve Connor scored before Elliot Haffenden replied for Corsham as the visitors held a 2-1 lead at half time.
In a feisty second half a Louis Bollard penalty settled the game for the visitors with a 3-1 win despite being reduced to ten men before the end.
Forest Renegades FC 1 Marshfield (Sunday) FC 1
HONOURS EVEN FOR RENEGADES & MARSHFIELD
In what was another tight game, Forest Renegades welcomed Marshfield (Sunday) to their Forest Community Centre base, and it was the hosts who fell behind as a Sam Bean goal gave the visitors a 1-0 lead before Jamie Morris replied to leave the game level at half time.
Neither team could find the net in the second half as they shared the points with a 1-1 draw.
Kingfisher FC 2 Combe Down FC 3
COMBE DOWN SNATCH INJURY TIME WINNER TO DENY FISHERMEN
Kingfisher FC certainly matched Chippenham & Bath League, Division two high-flying Bath based Combe Down in an entertaining game at their Buckley Barracks pitch.
In the 17th minute an Adam Loveridge headed goal gave Kingfisher the lead. Play went back and forth before Combe Down were awarded a penalty for a foul in the area in the 35th minute. Kean Hayward made no mistake with shot to draw the teams level at 1-1 which remained the score at half time
A mistake in the Combe Down area and a scramble saw Kieran Blake volley home in the 61st minute. Combe Down gradually began to take control of the game and after some nice interplay Ollie Hunt equalised in the 81st minute.
An injury just before full time caused a short delay as the visitors now pressed for a winner and in added time it came from Dontae Swaby-depass to break the Kingfisher resistance. Combe Down taking the points with a 3-2 win.
Westbury Rovers FC 2 The Pewsham FC 1
BRINZARU & BURBIDGE HAUNT FORMER CLUB
Westbury Rovers welcomed The Pewsham to their Bratton pitch.
With a number of former Pewsham player now plying their trade for Westbury it was one of those in Stefan Brinzaru scored the only goal of the first half as they took a 1-0 lead into half time.
Kadir Ayhan equalised for the visitors before Aaron Burbridge another former Pewsham man scored to give Dale Raaine’s side their first win of the season 2-1
