DIVISION THREE ROUND UP – 5th November 2023
AFC Ivy 4 Warminster Athletic FC 3
IVY OVERTURN 3 GOAL DEFICIT TO BEAT WARMINSTER
Unbeaten Chippenham & Bath Third Division League Leaders AFC Ivy were given a shock by visitors Warminster Athletic who led 2-0 at half time as Dan Walker and Callum Hotine scored for the visitors.
Callum Hotine then added a further goal as the visitors led 3-0, which seemed to be an unassailable lead.
Ivy had other idea and they started a remarkable fightback, George Trueman was first to pull a goal back for Ivy before Harrison Collings scored twice to bring Ivy level.
They then had Tyler Mayoh to thank as he scored to give Ivy three vital points.
Trowbridge Athletic FC 3 Forest Albion 2
TROWBRIDGE END FOREST ALBION’s WINNING START
Unbeaten Forest Albion visited Trowbridge Athletic at their Notton House School pitch with high hopes of maintaining their unbeaten record. They opened brightly soon causing the Trowbridge defence problems and after 14 minutes they opened the scoring from Sean Horobin.
Trowbridge gradually began to get back into the game and after 32 minutes James Pennell equalised as the teams went in 1-1 at half time.
Although Albion were taking the game to Trowbridge, the home team continued to look dangerous on the break and after 52 minutes following one of those breask, substitute Luke Ransome fired home to give them a 2-1 lead.
Forest then went all out for an equaliser, but poor finishing and good defending kept them out until the 67th minute when James Dark equalised from range.
Forest were however becoming increasingly frustrated, particularly with the referee and his decisions. This led them being reduced to ten men following a sin bin for arguing with the referee.
A bad injury to a Forest defender did not help their mood. In the final minute Trowbridge were awarded a penalty when their forward was brought down in the area, Forest however complained the ball had gone out of play before it had been crossed.
Forest’s protests were ignored and as all around him were losing their heads, Kieran Balchin kept his cool and scored the penalty to give Trowbridge a 3-2 win that left Forest clearly upset with the result.
