Combe Down FC 2 Griffin FC 4

GRIIFIN PICK UP VITAL 3 POINTS WTIH COMBE WIN

At the top of the Chippenham & Bath League, Second Division table, Third placed Griffin claimed a vital three points when they visited Combe Down.

Dave Walton opened the scoring for the visitors before Max Western added two more goals to give the visitors a 3-0 lead.

Combe’s top scorer Dylan Angishan-Law did pull a goal back to revive Combe’s hopes as Griffin led 3-1 at the break.

In the second half Griffin went further ahead as their top scorer Matt Pawley found the back of the net.

Although Dylan Angishan-Law scored again they could not stop the visitors taking the points with a 4-2 win.

Both teams are now level on points at the top with Corsham Rovers although Combe Down have played one more game than their near rivals.


Corsham Rovers FC 6 Farrington Albion FC 1

SIX OF THE BEST FOR LEADERS CORSHAM ROVERS

Thanks must go to both Farrington Albion and Corsham Rovers for reversing this fixture due to pitch conditions.

Rovers however were in no mood to be generous as they took a 2-0 half time lead with goals from the division’s leading scorer Elliot Haffenden and Jamie Ellis.

Their second leading scorer Owen Thomson added a third after half time with Aron Byfield adding a fourth before Nathan Flynn pulled a goal back for the visitors.

Elliot Haffenden then completed a hat trick with two further goals to round off a 6-1 win for Rovers as they maintained top spot in the Division.


Kingfisher FC 4 Westbury Rovers FC 3

GALLOWAY HEADS KINGFISHER TO VICTORY

Westbury Rovers were unlucky not to have at least shared the points in this entertaining game as they visited Buckley Barracks to play Kingfisher.

Rovers clearly rattled Kingfisher as the dominated the early play before going ahead in the 10th minute from an Adam Gough header.

Continuing to have more of the play they went 2-0 up after 27 minutes from an Aaron Burbridge follow up after the keeper had parried it into his path, Kingfisher did start to get back into the game and from a long throw into the box James Stanley headed home after 29 minutes, however it was Rovers went in with a deserved 2-1 lead at half time.

Again, Westbury dominated the early part of the second half but rued missed chances as from Kingfisher’s first meaningful attack Adam Loveridge scored after 63 minutes to level the game at 2-2.

Two minutes later Kingfisher went in front as Tom Armstrong converted from a cross.

Westbury then ploughed forward and were rewarded after when Dorian Briazaru scored after a scramble in the Kingfisher box.

Rovers then went all out to retake the lead but were stopped by a mixture of good defending and poor finishing. With Kingfisher also looking for a winner they won a freekick in the Rovers half. Harry Galloway’s header from the free kick in the 89th minute settled the game in Kingfisher’s favour 4-3.

Westbury’s form is clearly on the up and they will be more than a match for teams above them in the division.


Semington FC 1 Marshfield FC 0

MITCHELL, ROB’S MARSHFIELD WITH MATCH WINNER

In what appears to have been a very tight game at Little Marsh, Semington FC’s talisman Robert Mitchell’s first half goal gave them the points over visitors Marshfield (Sunday) with a 1-0 win


The Pewsham FC 0 Forest Renegades FC 5

5 STAR RENEGADES ROMP TO PEWSHAM WIN

Forest Renegades recent improvement in form continued as they visited Goatacre to play rivals Pewsham.

Sam Draper opened the scoring for the visitors before Nathan Baines added a second to give them a 2-0 half time lead.

Goals from Alex Bates, a Pewsham own goal and Tom A’Court goal completed their 5-0 away win.
