Lavis won their first league encounter 4-2 and drew the teams drew the next meeting 1-1, the final part of the trilogy saw the teams paired together in the Wiltshire Sunday Cup and on this occasion Pavao came out on top as they beat their hosts 4-2 on penalties after 90 minutes had ended all level at 2-2.
In what was another thrilling game between two evenly matched teams it was Lavis who had the better of the of the opening exchanges who took the lead when Arthur Dolan headed home a Olly Sterling corner.
If Lavis bossed the first 15 minutes the rest of the half went the way of Corsham Pavao who drew level from the penalty spot, a mistimed challenge from Matt Hall led to Cory Harbour-Burgess taking a tumble in the area and to Pavao being awarded a spot kick which Zac Hillier tucked away to make it 1-apeice.
As the first half drew to a close, Corsham were only denied a second by Lavis keeper Kieran Ramsey who produced a brilliant save to deny Cory Harbour-Burgess and keep the score all square.
The second half began just like the first half did, with Lavis making a strong start and they were reward when substitute Jordan Pinder fired home a 25 yard free kick beyond a despairing Kieran Perrin who was unlucky not to keep the ball out.
Despite putting in a player of the match performance in the heart of the Lavis defence Jordan De Silva, was unable to prevent Corsham Pavao from getting back on level terms for a second time. Toby Gingell heading home on 65 minutes to tie the scores at 2-each.
Both teams had chances to win the game, Corsham being denied by some resolute Lavis defending and excellent work from Ramsey between the sticks, while at the other end keeper Perrin denied De Silva and the crossbar kept out efforts from both Jordan Pinder and Levi Wood and Nick Taylor sent another header inches over the bar.
With no further score in the 90 minutes the game went to the dreaded penalty shoot-out, the usually reliable Levi Wood was first up for Lavis FC and he saw his spot kick brilliantly saved by keeper Perrin who also saved a Matt Hall penalty. Although keeper Ramsey saved Pavao’s second spot kick taken by George Ford and both Jordan Pinder and Jack Sterling scored from 12 yards it counted for nothing as successful penalties from Zac Hillier, Toby Gingell, Joe Holland and Adam Mitchell saw Corsham Pavao through to the next round where they will face fellow league side FC Devizes United.
