Having watched their fellow Chippenham & Bath League, Division One, title challengers Fox & Hounds (Warminster) drop 5 points in their last two outings, leaders Whiteway would have been confident of extending their advantage at the top of the standings when they hosted Lansdown FC.
After losing their opening six league, Lansdown broke their duck last weekend with a victory over Old Road and for a second successive week they picked up maximum points, when they surprised division leaders Whiteway.
Lansdown’s signing of Tom Lakeman from the now defunct Bath Rovers could well have an impact on their results going forward. He scored twice at the beginning of the first half to give the visitors a 2-0 lead before Aiden Maslen replied twice to level things up. The sides going in level at half time 2-2
In a hard-fought game, Tom Lakeman on his debut for the visitors scored a last minute winner to complete his hat trick. Whiteway however still have a five-point lead at the head of the division although their nearest rival has a game in hand.
