SCOOP BACK IN THE TITLE RACE WITH WIN OVER KINGSMEAD

Defending, Chippenham & Bath Premier Division holders Scoop FC who suffered a thumping 7-1 defeat against current leaders FC Devizes United in their last league outing are very much back in the title race, following their 6-3 triumph away at Kingsmead FC who played the whole 90 minutes with just 10 players.

In what was a thrilling encounter that saw the sides tied at 3-apiece at the break, Scoop finally got the better of their hosts who helped in their own downfall as along with being a man down they gave their guests a helping hand with two own goals. The first coming from Andy Keen before goals from Rory Davis and Jack Smith completed Scoop’s first half tally.

The second half saw Kingsmead keep Scoop out until the 70th minute before they were able to gain control of the game as they netted three unanswered goals, a second own goal this time from Jon Dolman saw Scoop regain the lead. Josh Bright put them 5-3 ahead and a Woody Smart goal wrapped up what was an excellent victory for Matt Richards side.

LOCO PROVE TOO GOOD FOR LAVIS

Having not kicked a ball for over a month, PF Loco showed no signs of rustiness when they visited Lavis FC who looking for a morale boosting victory ahead of Sunday’s Knockout Cup quarter-final meeting with Kingsmead.

Things didn’t go to plan for Aaron Latchem’s side as they slumped to a 5-2 defeat.

Matt Curnock gave Loco the lead and a second from Curnock put the visitors to the Lye well on top before a Martin Smith goal gave them a 3-0 lead.

Derek (DJ) Wheeler pulled a goal back for Lavis, but if failed to get his team going as Loco restored their 3-goal cushion when Simon Smith netted, an Angus Williamson effort made it 5-1 before Kieran Plummer scored a late consolation for the hosts.
