Congratulations to Chippenham & Bath League, Premier Division leaders FC Devizes United who a convincing performance from on their home pitch at Goatacre to destroy opponents FDC United that saw them progress to the final of the Wiltshire Sunday Cup where they will meet the current holders of the cup Tidworth Town Youth FC on 28th March 2024.
Welcoming Swindon Sunday League Division One side FDC United, Devizes showed their intention from the start. Dominating the early play. It was however 25 minutes from the start before the deadlock was broken, when Jack Baker met a cross from the left to head Devizes into the lead. Three minutes later after ping pong in the FDC box, Declan McStravick gave Devizes a 2-0 lead. This remained the score at half time as FDC had looked to get back into the game.
An early goal, 5 minutes after the restart from Kieran Gleed with a superb free kick looked to have settled things. Three minutes later FDC hit back with a header from a free kick to leave the score at 3-1 for Devizes.
Two minutes later Devizes scored again as Oscar Webster lobbed the keeper after beating the offside trap. After 67 minutes with FDC flagging, Oscar Webster scored again as he reacted first to a deflected shot by substitute Kassa Anderson to give Devizes a 5-1 lead.
FDC were finding it difficult to get forward and in the 83rd minute Kieron Gleed capped a man of the match performance with his second goal to give Devizes a 6-1 lead. FDC were then awarded a penalty from which they scored in the 87th minute.
The final whistle saw Devizes take a 6-2 victory.
