DOWNERS KEEP TITLE HOPES ALIVE
Combe Down FC welcomed Forest Renegades to their Odd Down home where a 3-0 victory for the home team keeps them very much in the race to become Chippenham & Bath League, Second division winners along with both Griffin FC and Corsham Rovers who were both victorious on Sunday morning.
Alfie Prescott opened the scoring for Combe Down and he made it 2-0 with his second of the morning. Kean Hayward added a third for the Downers who were 3-0 up at the interval and with no further goals the hosts were happy with their morning’s work.
Griffin FC 4 Semington FC 1
GRIFFIN RETURN TO WINNING WAYS
After dropping 5 points in their previous two outings Griffin FC picked up a much needed 3 points from their clash with Semington FC which they won 4-1.
Goals from Matt Pawley either side of half time gave Griffin a 2-0 advantage before Harry Thorne halved the deficit for Semington.
Any hopes of a come back from the visitors were soon dashed as Louis Bollard restored Griffin’s two goal gap prior to Matt Pawley completing the scoring with his third of the game.
Olympic Victoria FC 1 Corsham Rovers FC 4
CORSHAM REMAIN TOP IN TITLE RACE
Thanks to a 4-1 triumph away at Olympic Victoria, Corsham Rovers FC remain to of the table with a two point lead from Griffin FC and are three points ahead of Combe Down, with both teams having games in hand on the leaders it makes for a brilliant climax to the season.
Jake Dodge gave Corsham the lead which was doubled by Harry James. Ben Lee cut the arrears for Victoria only for Jake Dodge to net for a second time to give Corsham a 3-1 half time lead..
The only goal after the break saw the unfortunate Rob Gray put through his own net to hand the leaders their 4-1 win.
Westbury Rovers FC 2 Farrington Albion FC 1
WESTBURY MOVE PROVES PROFITABLE
With their own pitch at Bratton unplayable, Westbury Rovers FC moved their match with Farrington Albion FC to the Beeches, Shaw whe nthat was deemed unfit due to the recent downpours, manager Dale Raine moved the match to Notton School and he was rewared for his efforts as his team claimed a 2-1 win.
After a goalless first half, Westbury broke the deadlock through an Aaron Burbidge penalty.
Ed Curtis made it 2-0 before Farrington gave themselves hope of getting something from the game when Luke Tucker netted his third goal of the season, but no matter what they threw at Westbury they were unable to conjure up an equaliser.
Kingfisher FC v Marshfield (Sunday) FC H/W
FISHERMEN HOOK 3 POINTS WITHOUT PLAYING
On current form , Chippenham based Kingfisher FC would have expected to take maximum points from the visit of Marshfield (Sunday) FC to their Buckley Barracks base. The Fishermen collected maximum points, however they came as a gift from the visitors, who due to them being unable to raise a team saw them awarded to Kingfisher.
