In the match of the day in the Chippenham & Bath Second Division, leaders Griffin FC hosted second placed Corsham Rovers who were looking to overturn their early season defeat against their hosts when they visited the Peasedown St John pitch.
In what appears to have been an end-to-end game at Lansdown, it was Corsham who emerged 4-3 victors in what was a very competitive matches between the two title chasing outfits.
Griffin struck first as Alexander Raistrick scored. Harrison James then equalised before Duncan Frew restored Griffin’s lead as the home team took a 2-1 lead into half time.
Harrison James then scored his and Rovers second to level the scores at 2-2. Louis Bollard restored Griffin’s lead before Jaiden Pearce equalised for Rovers.
The decisive goal the came from Callum Thorburn as he scored to give Rovers a 4-3 away win and move them back to top spot. Griffin now two points behind do however have a game in hand on the new leaders.
Farrington Albion FC 3 Olympic Victoria FC 3
FARRINGTON & VICTORIA SHARE SPOILS
For a second successive week Farrington Albion were involved in a high scoring thriller, last week they claimed a point from a 4-4 with Corsham Rovers. A week later they shared six goals with Olympic Victoria, Joe Presley scored for Albion as they took an early lead over visitors Victoria.
Jack Perry then added a second before Ben Lee pulled a goal back for the visitors. Darren Whitfield then scored for Albion before Victoria’s Chris Rogers scored to leave the half time score at 3-2 for Farrington Albion.
A solitary goal from Chris Rogers, his second after half time saw both teams having to settle for a point apiece as the game ended 3-3.
Forest Renegades FC 3 The Pewsham FC3
BROWNING GRABS EQUALISER FOR PEWSHAM
Forest Renegades had won the away fixture 5-0 but were made to work hard as the welcomed Pewsham to their new home pitch at Melksham’s Oakfield stadium. Chris Pickering gave the visitors the lead and Kadir Ayhan added a second before a Tom A’Court penalty reduced the visitors lead. The teams went into half time with Pewsham leading 2-1
Two goals from Tom A’Court to complete his hat trick saw Renegades take a 3-2 lead. Steven Browning then scored for Pewsham to ensure a share of the spoils as the game ended 3-3.
Westbury Rovers FC 4 Marshfield (Sunday) FC 3
WESTBURY CLAIM WELCOME WIN
In another close game, Westbury Rovers took a 2-1 lead into half time at home to Marshfield (Sunday) FC with goals from Aiden Lane and Stefan Brinzaru.
Daniel Tugwell and Ben house also scored for the Rovers to give them a welcome 4-3 home victory, Samuel Bean had scored twice for the visitors along with Joe Hylands.
