GRIFFIN CRUISE INTO MEMORIAL CUP FINAL

It would be fair to say that, Third Division, Warminster Athletic who welcomed high-flying Division Two Griffin to their home pitch were always going to be underdogs in the David vs Goliath , PJL Rail Services sponsored Memorial Cup semi-final tie and so it proved to be as Griffin who were last terms beaten Subsidiary Cup finalists cruised into the Final, winning 8-2.

Griffin were soon on the scoresheet as Dave Wilson opened the scoring for the visitors, who quickly added a second from Max Western.

Warminster pulled a goal back when Darren Martin scored. Max Pawley restored the two goal advantage before Louis Bollard extended their lead to 4-1. George Allen pulled a goal back for the home team to leave the half time score at 4-2 for the visitors.

Griffin took control of the second half as Liam Davies scored, Louis Bollard the added his second, Stuart Kemp increased the lead to 7-2 before Louis Bollard added another to complete his hat trick and move Griffin through to the final for the second year with an 8-2 victory.  

Griffin have to way a couple of weeks to find out who their cup finals opponents will be as the other semi-final tie between Semington FC and Spires Athletic was a casualty of the weather and has been rescheduled for Sunday 3rd March.
