PREMIER DIVISION ROUND UP – 25th February 2024

Scoop FC 2 PF Loco FC 1

SCOOP CLOSING GAP ON LEADERS DEVIZES

Last season’s Chippenham & Bath League, Premier Division winners Scoop FC who thought their hopes of retaining the title had all but gone, until FC Devizes United’s recent loss, have their destiny in their own hands. The maths are simple, win their 3 remaining matches and the trophy stays with them, a 2-1 home win over PF Loco FC means it’s onw down with 2 to go.

In what was a keenly contested match a Ed Summers goal separated the teams at half time and gave Scoop a 1-0 lead.

Josh Bright doubled Scoop’s advantage and although Joe Lacey got Loco back in the game to give Scoop a few anxious moments prior to the final whistle the defending champions did enough to hold on for the all important 3 points.

Kingsmead FC 4 Lavis FC 4

OWN GOAL DENIES LAVIS 3 POINTS

With two convincing victories already this season under their belt against Lavis FC, Bath based Kingsmead FC hosted Aaron Latchem’s side probably confident of completing a hat trick of wins over the Trowbridge based side.

3-1 up at the break, the Kingsmen would have already been celebrating, however an excellent second half showing from the visitors to the University Of Bath took them to within 40 seconds of claiming what would have been a deserved victory. In the end they had to settle for a point from a 4-4 draw as an own goal denied them all 3 points.

Brad Norris gave Kingsmead the lead, this was cancelled out by a Tom Blackman effort, before two more goal from Norris saw him complete a hat trick and seemingly put the hosts well on top.

A brilliant second half showing from Lavis saw them turn the game on it’s head, a second from Tom Blackman got them back in the contest and when Mark Maguire restored parity they started to get on top of their hosts

Jack Sterling completed the turnaround when he put Lavis 4-3 ahead and they started to believe they could claim a victory, which they all looked set to do but with less than a minute remaining the unfortunate Matty Hall, so many times the hero for Lavis put through his own net to gift Kingsmead a share of the spoils.
