Warminster Athletic who had narrowly lost 2-1 in the reverse fixture against Forest Albion must have had some concerns at visiting the Chippenham & Bath League, Third division leaders particularly as they could only field ten men.
However, in what turned out to be a very entertaining game they opened the scoring after just six minutes through Stefan Aland. Although Forest claimed the scorer was offside the ball was deemed to have been deflected by a Forest player and the goal stood.
After 20 minutes Forest were rocked further when Warminster scored again after a long throw was converted by Darren Martin, to open a two goal lead.
Matters looked to have got even worse for Forest when they conceded a penalty after 25 minutes but their keeper marc Pearce saved Darren Martin spot kick.
Forest then began to take control of the game and in the 33rd minute a long range shot from Leigh Rowles-Hitchcock saw them pull a goal back. Four minutes later a clever low shot from James Dark drew Forest level at 2-2. In the 41st minute Tyler Campbell put Forest into the lead after a cross from left by Jack Woolsgrove. Forest going into half time with a 3-2 lead.
After just 50 minutes Forest were 4-2 up when James Dark’s corner was met by Jack Woolsgrove who shot home.
Warminster pulled a goal back in the 75th minute as Tom Miller scored on his debut. A minute later Keiran Mills scored to keep Forest’s two goal lead.
Warminster now began to tire, and the majority of play was with Forest. In the 88th and 89th minutes Sean Horobin scored two more to somewhat flatter the home team’s score line as they ran out 7-3 winners against a battling Warminster Athletic.
