MASSIVE WIN FOR GRIFFIN IN TITLE RACE

Griffin kept their hopes of the Chippenham & Bath League Second division title alive as they moved into a four point lead with just one game remaining for them which will be against fellow title hopefuls Combe Down in a few weeks time.

Corsham Rovers with two games remaining must hope Griffin slip up in their final game and they win both their games.

Louis Bollard had given Griffin a first half 1-0 lead. Stuart Kemp added a second after half time as Griffin ran out 2-0 winners over fellow Bath based outfit Olympic Victoria.


Farrington Albion FC 1 Kingfisher FC 4

LOVERIDGE SCORES TWICE AS FISHERMEN BEAT FARRINGTON

Despite a heavy defeat in the first leg of the Subsidiary Cup last Sunday, Kingfisher FC returned to their League form as they visited Farrington Albion who themselves went into the game on the back of a mauling in the Subsidiary Cup.

Ben Leslie and Joshua Pullin gave the visitors a 2-0 half time lead.

The visitor’s top scorer Adam Loveridge then scored twice to give Kingfisher a 4-0 lead.

Luke Tucker then pulled a goal back for the home team as Kingfisher left with a 4-1 victory.


Westbury Rovers FC 3 Semington FC 2

IVY WIN TO SET UP TITLE 6-POINTER

Having battled out a 1-1 draw at the beginning of the season the reverse fixture between Westbury Rovers and Semington FC was always going to be a close game and so it was too be as Westbury edged a thrilling game 3-2.

Due to their own pitch being out of action, the game had been moved to Notton House School. Both sides struggled initially on a pitch that was smaller than they were used to.

Westbury began to dominate and after 14 minutes took the lead when James Reeves scored after Semington failed to clear a corner.

Semington came back into the game but could not find a way through the solid defence. Westbury added a second when Daniel Tugwell’s scored to give them a 2-0 lead at half time.

Semington’s half time talk was paying dividends as they began to dominate the second period and reduced the gap on 60 minutes when Dave Clarke pounced after a goalmouth scramble to halve the deficit.

Ten minutes later they equalised when James Cox’s low shot from the edge of the area hit the back of the net.

Both teams pressed hard for a goal as play went from end to end. After 84 minutes Westbury broke the deadlock when Carl Ledbury scored to give them a narrow 3-2 victory.
