SPIRES REACH MEMORIAL CUP FINAL

First Division Spires Athletic progressed to meet Griffin in the PJL Rail Services sponsored Memorial Cup Final with a comfortable 4-1 win over second division Semington.

Although Spires dominated the first half of the game, it was 40 minutes before they could break down the Semington defence when Zach Preston scored with a drilled finish after some good interplay.

Two minutes later Aiden Jackson scored a second for Spires from close range to give Spires a 2-0 half time lead.

Defender Todd Buckley bagged a beauty from 20 yards to give Spires a 3-0 lead before Semington hit back through Sam Malone and for ten or so minutes they dominated the game until a thunderous 35 yard drive from Zach Preston ended any hopes Semington had as Spires ran out 4-1 winners to reach their first ever final.

The Final scheduled for Sunday 14th April will be held at Odd Down FC, Bath.
