Subsidiary Cup holders Corsham Rovers had as good as booked their spot in the quarter-finals of this year’s competition, taking a 7-1 advantage into the Second Leg encounter against second division stablemates Kingfisher at Buckley Barracks is was always going to be a massive task for the Fishermen to stage a remarkable turnaround.
Kingfisher may not have upset the odds, but they will take heart from a 2-2 draw that would have seen them restore some pride.
Goals from Jamie Ellis and Sam Young either side of half time saw Corsham take a 2-0 lead before Josh Pullin halved the deficit and Henry Garraway fashioned an equaliser to earn Kingfisher a draw on the day, but over the two legs a 9-3 aggregate score loss.
Trowbridge Athletic FC 7 Lansdown Reserves FC1– Second Leg– AGGREGATE SCORE9-3
LANSDOWN RESERVES SUFFER HEAVY LOSS
The all Third division, Subsidiary cup encounter between Trowbridge Athletic and Lansdown Reserves FC was nicely poised after the first leg with the teams locked together a 2-2.
Surprisingly the Second Leg was a one sided affair that saw Trowbridge romp to a 7-1 success to claim a 9-3 aggerate win.
Curtis Jones scored the consolation for Lansdown, but by the time his lone reply came it was way too late as Trowbridge were 7-0 up and out of sight.
Athletic’s top scorer Kieran Balchin helped himself to a hat trick, with two coming in a first half that saw the hosts lead 3-0, James Pennell added the other.
After the break, Balchin made it 4-0, Jake Jefferies, Joshua Mockeridge and Jacob Thwaites added the others.
Lansdown FC 1 The Green Dragon FC0– Second Leg – AGGREGATE SCORE5-1
LAKEMAN COMPLETS JOB FOR LANSDOWN
Lansdown hosted fellow Division One out The Green Dragon with one foot already in the quarter finals, thanks to their 4-1 advantage from the first leg and a 1-0 victory saw them complete the job at hand.
Tom Lakeman who had scored a double in the first meeting of the clubs, scoring the only goal of the Second Leg to give Lansdown a 5-1 winning score line over the two legs.
Lacock Athletic FC 3The Pewsham FC 3 – Second Leg – AGGREGATE SCORE 4-5
PEWSHAM EDGE OUT LACOCK
A narrow 2-1 win for Second division, The Pewsham against Third division opponents, Lacock Athletic left both teams with everything to play for in the second leg, and what a game it was as an entertaining contest saw the teams share six goals, but a 3-3 draw meant that it was the Pewsham who progressed to the final 8, winning the tie 5-4 on aggregate.
2-0 up at half time, Pewsham would have thought they had the tie in the bag, however that wasn’t the case as goals from Jay Watkin, Ben Wood and Adam Powell put Lacock in with a fighting chance of taking the game to penalties, but that was too be as a double for Aaron Clegg and a Matthew White strike saw Pewsham over the line.
Griffin FC 6Weston Village – Team Nathan FC 1 – Second Leg – AGGREGATE SCORE 10-3
GRIFFIN TOO STRONG FOR VILLAGERS
4-2 up from their Subsidiary Cup First Leg meeting with Third division opponents Weston Village – Team Nathan, Division Two pacesetters Griffin FC completed the job with a 6-1, Second Leg triumph to complete a winning 10-3 aggregate score line.
Griffin led through an Alex Raistrick goal at half time, Matt Pawley and Max Western made it 3-0 before Kevin Boadi got on the scoresheet for Weston Village.
Max Western added a second for Griffin as did Alex Raistrick to make it 5-1, Dave Walton was on hand to score his teams sixth of the morning.
Spires Athletic FC 12Warminster Athletic FC 0 – Second Leg – AGGREGATE SCORE 19-3
WARMINSTER BEATEN BYRAMPANT SPIRES
Going into the Subsidiary Cup, Second Leg clash with Third Division Warminster Athletic, and already 7-3 ahead from the First Leg, Spires Athletic may have been tempted to rest a few of their players ahead of Sunday’s Memorial Final with Griffin FC.
Spires thought otherwise and gave most of their Cup final squad a run out and that was unfortunate for Warminster as they ended up on the wrong end of a 12-0 mauling and in turn a 19-3 aggregate score loss.
Aaron Masson top scored with 4, Kieran Tarrant claimed a hat trick, Dylan Hatt bagged himself a brace with a goal each from Macauley Chamberlain, Frank Mubvuta and Todd Buckley making up the Spires dozen.

Combe Down FC were already through to the quarter-finals of this season’s Subsidiary Cup, the Downers who received a walkover after opponents Marshfield (Sunday) suddenly withdrew from the league, last month await to see who they will take on for a place in the last four.
