After a thrilling last few weeks to the season, Devizes based Hourglass can at last celebrate winning the Shoestrings-chargrill sponsored Chippenham & Bath League Second Division title.

Two wins in the space of four days for Hourglass FC over respective opponents Spires Athletic FC and The British Lion had put them in pole position to take the Division Two title in their very first season.

The British Lion FC were in action on both Thursday Evening and Sunday morning with the title hopefuls picking up 4 points from a possible 6.

The Second division heavyweight battle between promotion and title hopefuls Hourglass FC and Spires Athletic was called off by landlords Devizes Town FC as they looked to save the pitch ahead of the top Wiltshire League match between Devizes Town FC and Trowbridge Town FC.

Shoestrings-chargrill sponsored Chippenham & Batch Sunday League, Second division leaders Spires Athletic were given a fright by Bradford Renegades while as Fox & Hound claimed double figure win in the Warminster ‘Derby’.

There may have only been two fixtures in the Second division of the shoestrings-chargrill sponsored Chippenham & Bath League Second division on Sunday morning, but they results of those gave have certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons in the battle for the promotion places.

One time runaway leaders Spires Athletic have seen their title challenge come off the rail in previous weeks, a 2-1 defeat away at Westbury Celtic was the fourth time in their last five outing that they have failed to collect maximum points.
