The curtain came down on what was a thrilling climax to the Chippenham & Bath Third Division title race, with AFC Ivy claiming the number one spots thanks to a better head to head against rivals Forest Albion.

With only one fixture in the Chippenham & Bath League Third, Bath Road Wanderers played hosts to Lacock Athletic in what was the final outing of the season for both sets of players.

A surprise 1-0 defeat for AFC Ivy leaves them needing to beat Chippenham & Bath Third Division leaders Forest Albion it thy are to deny Mark Gee’s Melksham based side the number one spot in the standings.

The race to be crowned Chippenham & Bath League Third Division champions looks all set to go to the final day of the season as both title contenders, Forest Albion and AFC Ivy picked up maximum points from matches which were viewed as potential banana skins.

There may have only been one Chippenham & Bath League, Third division match at the weekend, however it was the day for promotion hopefuls AFC Ivy to defeated Bath Road Wanders to close the gap on leaders Forest Albion ahead on next Sunday’s meeting between the two sides.

Not for the first time this season, the weather led to all but one of the scheduled Chippenham & Bath League fixtures being postponed.
The only game that beat the elements was played at Forest Community Centre where the pitch surprisingly held up as Third Division leaders Forest Albion defeated Warminster Athletic 7-3.
